Your Library Card & Borrowing
The Crooked Tree District Library includes the libraries in Boyne Falls and Walloon Lake with the latter designated as the main library. The geographical service area includes the townships of Boyne Valley, Melrose, Chandler and Hudson in Charlevoix County as well as Warner Township in Antrim County.
A Crooked Tree District Library card is free to anyone who resides in or owns property in the townships listed above . Consent and signature from a parent or legal guardian assuming financial responsibility will be required for a minor. Cards may only be obtained in person at either Boyne Falls or Walloon Lake.
Examples of current proof of ID and address include:
- Valid driver’s license
- Passport
- State ID only with date of birth
- Mail postmarked in the last month
- Pay stub issued in the last month
- Voter's registration card
- Lease/deed agreement
- Current utility bill dated within one month
Non-Resident – Any person who does not qualify for residency shall be considered a non-resident and may apply for an annual library card for a fee of $75. This fee allows the purchaser to use the Library for one year and is non-refundable. Interlibrary loan services outside of the local PAC2 Library Consortium are not permitted. Immediate family members may use the purchaser’s annual card with permission; however, the purchaser will be responsible for all charges or fines on the account.

Fines
The Crooked Tree District Library is fine free, except for our hotspots. Patrons are still expected to pay for lost or damaged materials.
Loan Policies
The standard loan period is one week for DVDs and Blu-ray, two weeks for new books and three weeks for all other materials owned by the Library, with the exception of Hotspots which are circulated for one week at a time. Patrons may renew items in person, by phone, or online via BiblioCommons. There is a limit of two renewals on any item. An item that has a hold on it will not be renewed.
